Modern Warfare Battle Royal Mode - Everything We Know So Far

Warzone 2 was released in November 2022. Immediately after the release, Warzone 1 went offline for maintenance for about a month which didn't indicate Warzone 2 was a replacement. Both battle royale games are stand-alone experiences that differ in pace, maps, and gaming mechanics. Warzone 2 is built in the classic traditions of the battle royale genre with much emphasis put on the looting process, Warzone 1 was more experimental at the time.

Warzone 1 got released on March 10, 2020, and is free to play, moreover, players can transfer their progress from MW in the new battle royale adventure. With Raven Software and Infinity Ward being the game developers, it makes it interesting to see the MW “boots on the ground” base concept played out in the game. At launch, the game features 2 gaming modes - Plunder and Battle Royale both taking place on a massive new map called Verdansk. The scenery is full of beautiful nature such as the ocean and mountains but also has contemporary built objects such as a stadium, an airport, and more. The map is twice as big as Blackout and perfectly accommodates up to 200 players to compete in each match. Battle Royale has been created by classical rules of the genre where players (either solo or team up with to 2 more players) are doing their best to be the last survivors in that chaos; while Plunder is focused on money collecting via looting, stealing enemies' cash, completing challenges for rewards. 

Before the game launch, it has been a lot of rumors regarding whether it would be released as an individual title or be a part of the Modern Warfare bundle. Activision confirmed its intentions to compete for leadership with such giants as Apex Legends and Fortnite and released Warzone as a separate game available for everyone.
